The role of retail and hospital pharmacists during Covid-19

The aim of this study was to determine the roles of hospital and dispensary pharmacists in the fight against coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the Bamako district in 2020 and 2021. Our already fragile healthcare system has been severely shaken by this disease. The study identified the roles that pharmacists can play in the fight against this disease as well as the difficulties they encounter on a daily basis during their mission. The study focused on pharmacists working in both the public and private sectors and their main roles were in prevention screening and disease management. As part of their preventive work pharmacists not only raised awareness among the population but also prepared hydroalcoholic solutions for the needs of users and healthcare staff. In addition to these activities pharmacists felt they could make a contribution to Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs) and vaccination activities among others. It would therefore be useful to reflect on the pharmacist''s new missions.
