The Role of Virtue Ethics in Aristotle and Alasdair Macintyre

About The Book

The present book has as its theme The Role of Virtue Ethics in Aristotle and Alasdair MacIntyre. It seeks to show the relevance of classical thought in current times and to analyze how the concept of virtue is inseparable from community life. With this interpretative book we want to make a study of the Greek polis (4th century) and the Anglo-Saxon environment (American mainly 21st century) specifically the moral philosophy of Aristotle and Alasdair MacIntyre respectively. We also intend to understand to what extent Aristotelian virtue is feasible in the modern world. To materialize this purpose we have as works Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle and After Virtue by Alasdair MacIntyre. These works have as purpose to establish our horizon of understanding.
