The Saddharma Pundarika or The Lotus of the True Law

The Saddharma Pundarika (often referred to as The Lotus Sutra) is a well-known Mahayana Buddhist scripture and Hendrik Kern (1833–1917) was a Dutch scholar and Sanskritist who translated this important text. The full title of the book is The Saddharma Pundarika or The Lotus of the True Law. The Lotus Sutra is one of the most revered texts in Mahayana Buddhism and it is considered a central scripture that expounds essential teachings of the Buddha. The sutra emphasizes the concept of the bodhisattva one who seeks enlightenment not solely for themselves but also for the benefit of all beings. It discusses various skillful means and doctrines that encourage practitioners to cultivate compassion wisdom and the aspiration to help others achieve Buddhahood.
