The Secret Garden & A Little Princess

Mary Lennox is a sickly and rebellious young girl orphaned to low prospects in a gloomy English manor. However Mary is able to access the transformational magic when she discovers the secret gardens key. Frances Hodgson Burnett published her first childrens book A Little Princess in 1905. It is an updated and expanded version of Burnetts Sara Crewe a novel that was serialised in 1888. When Sara Crewes father passes away she is left in a state of poverty at Miss Minchins London school but is later helped by an unidentified donor.
