About The Book

It is 1750 26 years before the American Revolution the only non-native Americans living in the great Southern Plains of North America are located in five small missions along the San Antonio River the furthest north being Mission San José. Into this mission comes a bright lovely fifteen-year-old Tonkawa Indian girl whose dream that her tribe would be devastated by an Apache war party came true causing her and all the young people of her tribe to be brought there for protection. All but convinced that she would live out her years within these walls suddenly her life changes as she is carried away on a journey that she would have never dreamed would be possible. The exciting journey will take her into the great Comanche territory who rule all but most of the great prairie with an iron fist. Her travels bring her face to face with a hunter from England who begins a death-killing stampede for a herd of buffalo which brings them headlong into a Comanche hunting party. Finally after escaping the throngs of the Comanches she finds herself crossing the endless prairie searching for a new home. It is in the foothills that she will find peace for a time living as an Apache wife. But peace is fleeting and once more she is forced to cross the prairie back to her original homeland. It is an exciting journey that takes no rest. Be with this young Indian girl as she moves from one existence to another in a world that is harsh and unforgiving. The great Southwest.
