This paper aims to analyze the selfies uploaded to Instagram within the tradition of portraiture and self-portraiture from its origins to the present day. We create and share these selfies constantly through our social networks but reflecting on them will allow us to understand the way in which we communicate identify or project ourselves today. Reviewing the relationship between this practice and tradition will allow us to better understand our society through the social cultural and historical dimensions of the portrait genre in our contemporary selfies.
