The Spark has four sections. Building an innovative organisation is the theme of Part I. The constituents like establishing culture of innovation leadership qualities vision and strategy are deliberated in detail. Leadership lesson by Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw is the highlight. Innovation in an environment of constraints concept #ValueInnovation derived from Indian ethos has been discussed with examples. India thereby is becoming melting pot of innovation in critical fields: medicine space and digital technologies defence and fintech. Part I can be a reference for creativity and innovation. Clothing is basic need; fashion is aspirational. Part II covers Fabrics-Garments- Retail expansively. Indian textile industry has a lot of catching up to do with China on one hand and with European countries especially Italy Japan South Korea on the other. Garment industry likewise with Bangladesh Vietnam and Hong Kong Turkey etc. Strategical aspects and action plan have been outlined in detail. Retailing has been analysed with examples and supporting data. Two key challenges Climate Change and Disruptions are presented in Part III. Water is an important part of food clothing and electricity. Of the available water on earth only about 3 percent is fresh water. Various aspects of climate change have been discussed. Disruptive technologies can affect businesses badly; definition and examples have been included. Basic information and applications of digital technologies in different industries have been documented in Part IV Intelligent World. Language and terminology have been kept simple for easier grasp of the subject by beginners like us. Knowledge bank has been created for those interested to explore the subject deeper. The Spark is the outcome of four years dedicated efforts. The text contains data infographics and personal learnings and experiences. Hope these would enhance knowledge of the readers!
