The Spirituality of Anne Dutton

<p></p><p>Though she was one of the most published females of the eighteenth century Anne Dutton is not well-known today. From a remote village in England she authored over fifty works and published hundreds of letters demonstrating a combination of theological acumen spiritual wisdom and fervent piety that came to be appreciated on both sides of the Atlantic during the Evangelical Awakening.</p><p></p><p>This volume contains 12 selections from Dutton's correspondence. Her lengthier letters-Walking with God and Duty of Love-richly portray her vision of the Christian life. Her shorter letters reveal her cherished ministry of offering encouragement and biblical advice to those struggling in their spiritual journey-and speak just as profoundly to readers today.</p><p>Gleaning lessons from Dutton's autobiography Priscilla Wong in her introduction to Dutton's spirituality poignantly shows how this Calvinist Baptist responded to and grew from personal trials enabling her to speak authentically into the lives of those who esteemed her counsel.  </p><p></p>
