Examining the social political and economic dynamics in Juba Southern Sudan following the 2005 CPA this book reconceptualises post-conflict reconstruction as a social process underpinned by negotiation. The author identifies disputes over land competition over political jurisdiction bureaucratic corruption and informal land allocation. She demonstrates how actors interpreted the CPA in line with their economic and political interests providing new insights not only into the shaping of Southern Sudan but raising fundamental questions over whose interests would be represented in the soon to be independent state of South Sudan.
