<p>This is the first translation into English of several mystical and fantastic tales from the early twentieth century set in Russia's splendid imperial capital of St. Petersburg. The centerpiece of the collection-Alexander Ivanov’s Stereoscope—a forgotten gem of fantastic literature and a pioneering museum adventure tale is also an early example of fiction about photography.</p>
