The Story of Rustem and other Persian hero tales from Firdusi

The main focus of the collection is the tale of Rustem (Rostam) the most famous hero in Persian mythology. Rustem is known for his extraordinary strength courage and loyalty to the Persian throne. The stories follow his various adventures such as his seven labors (similar to the labors of Hercules) his battles with formidable foes and his tragic interactions with his son Sohrab. Beyond Rustem's adventures the book includes other Persian heroes and their deeds providing insight into the cultural values and mythic landscape of ancient Persia including themes of honor loyalty and the eternal struggle between good and evil.
