The Supreme Court of India on Legislative Privileges

The issue of Legislative Privileges in India has attracted considerable controversy due to inherent vagueness and generality of the Constitutional provision wherein these privileges are guaranteed to the House and its Members. The law on Legislative Privileges has been expounded by the Supreme Court of India and few landmark judgements were delivered thereupon. In the process the Apex Court clarified the status of Legislative privileges in India amidst all the controversies associated with the issue. In doing so several times the Court had to face serious challenges and also affected its relationship with Legislative organs negatively. The book presents a discourse on these landmark judgements and contribution of the Apex Court in developing the law of Legislative Privileges in India.
