The Tarnished Ones

Paul Kelly is an ex-CIA field officer content with his job as a college administrator in Boston until a woman from his past arrives to threaten his coveted academic routines. The unwelcome visitor is his former lover Kim Weber a CIA analyst who needs his help in assessing two potential terrorists posing as university students in St. Johns Newfoundland-a place where Kellys roots run deep.However her request also comes with allegations about a high-ranking CIA executive-allegations Kelly regards as either paranoid or a dangerous ruse to rekindle their romance. Or maybe both. Nonetheless Kelly sets out for Newfoundland to investigate the potential terrorists on Kims behalf and where he expects nothing will come of her concerns.But his attitude quickly changes on day two of his visit when a personal item is stolen from his hotel room-an item of no monetary value-but with sinister implications. Kelly realizes potential terrorists arent the only players and he must confront a much wider conspiracy. And when Kellys efforts result in his family being targeted he intends on leaving no way out for his adversaries-and perhaps not even for himself.
