The tension between care and autonomy in home nursing

About The Book

This book deals with the conflict between care and autonomy in home nursing. Caregivers are confronted with ethical decisions on a daily basis; on the one hand they must preserve the autonomy of their clients and on the other hand they must fulfil their duty of care. Based on qualitative interviews the experiences and personal perspectives of caregivers in dealing with care and autonomy are used to derive framework conditions that serve management in supporting employees so that they can work professionally in the tension between care and autonomy. The results are presented using Mayring's qualitative content analysis and then discussed. The book describes aspects relevant to nursing based on qualitative research and is aimed at students in training and further education and anyone interested in health and nursing care.
