About The Book

As the world goes up in flames before our very eyes admiring the beauty of flowers like Wordsworth was the last thing on my mind. So I chose to write about this Wasteland instead. There is a thread of commonality that holds us together no matter how different we are. This commonality that holds us together lies in the pain and problems that we share. These thorns that prick us are those of the barbed wire that separates us and of those prickly shackles that hold us captive in our own bodies in our minds and of our habits. These thorns are the ones we’ve used to inflict pain on one another. These are the thorns we share. What drove me to write these poems was the realization that our pain and our problems are just as universal as they are uniquely ours. Be it the agony of political turmoil or the anguish of our lonely souls our problems are our own yet those of so many others. I tried to catalogue this Pandora’s Box of thorns on paper in hopes to help people realize that they aren’t alone in this miserable world. I also hope to help people understand that the key to our liberation from this hegemony of pain lies in our individual yet unified efforts.
