Her story begins in Jamaica where she grew up in the rural community of Mulgrave in the 1950s and '60s. She offers vivid insight into the country's history twentieth-century customs family life and values cuisine celebrations culture religion music and more.<br /><br />After finishing teachers' college at Bethlehem Teachers College in Malvern St. Elizabeth and working in schools on the island for several years Lorna's tale moves across the ocean to Canada where she furthers her education at Sir George Williams University (now Concordia) in Montreal and meets her future husband on a visit to Toronto.<br /><br />At the heart of the narrative is her strong Christian upbringing that shaped her decisions and determination as well as inspirational Bible quotes poems and spiritual references to God's goodness and how He provides for each one of us on our journey here on Earth.
