The Trees of the Field

<p><strong><em>Laurel is juggling college while caring for David her seven-year-old brother as their volatile and warring parents have split for the last time leaving Laurel to cope with her mother's mental illness and her father's escape into a new marriage. Shame has driven her to self-imposed isolation convincing her that her life will never change. Fear of abandonment has done its work resulting in her determination to protect her brother provide him with a secure childhood and to protect her own heart from anyone who gets too close. Then a call one Sunday afternoon changes everything sending her in a new direction and into something she's always wanted but always feared.</em></strong></p>
