About The Book

ITS. BRITISH SOLDIER REAL INCIDENTS 1900 THIS TIMEThe tribal Pashtuns of Pakistan who live along the Afghan–Pakistan border have long been stereotyped as violent and warrior-like in colonial and modern literature. A survey of archival literature however reveals that oriental representations of tribal Pashtuns are based on different generalizations established and perpetuated during British military missions against tribal Pashtuns. Furthermore prejudices and generalizations about tribal Pashtuns have remained despite Pakistans independence in 1947. Recent events in Pakistans Pashtun tribal belt with numerous tribes calling Jirga meetings criticizing and fighting militant actions and protesting against the states injustices demonstrate the tribal Pashtuns importance and desire for peace. Finally a quick examination of the Pashtun Tahafuz (protection) movement which was recently launched (PTM) an indigenous peace and human rights organization that includes both men and women and its peaceful nature strengthens the tribal Pashtuns value of peace.
