The place with its grey sky and withered garlands its barred spaces and the scattered dead leaves was like a theatre after the performance-all strewn with crumpled playbills. When a novice governess is hired to look after a young brother and sister in a country estate weird things start to happen. The governess notices a ghostly man and lady wandering around the grounds and it quickly becomes evident that the children are somehow linked to these ghosts. The young governess tries to shield the children from something but she isnt sure what. The Turn of the Screw is a spooky and unnerving Victorian masterwork that tackles the psychological and sexual concerns of a period. It is regarded as one of the finest ghost stories ever written.
