Perceiving the world as anything other than what we are taught is a daunting task. We grow up being told never to question the ways of life because some beliefs are age-old and if we challenge them we are disrespecting our ancestors. It’s easy to say we survived because the ancestors have our backs. But I survived because I burned my ancestors. Can you say the same? The Veil is a book of prose short stories and more that seeks to shed the blindfold of perception that shrouds your eyes and prevents you from being able to view the world in its entirety. It explores even the most mundane of things that we often overlook and the most intense emotions that we tend to shy away from. After all it isn’t about how well we are trained to absorb the world we live in but how open we are to interpreting it. They say that perception distorts reality but do they ever realize that reality is subjective?
