About the Author Jamil Ahmad Jamil Ahmad was born in Jalandhar in 1931. As a member of theCivil Service of Pakistan he served mainly in the FrontierProvince and in Balochistan. He was Political Agent in QuettaChaghi Khyber and Malakand. Later he was commissioner in DeraIsmail Khan and in Swat. He was also chairman of the TribalDevelopment Corporation. He was posted as minister in Pakistan'sembassy in Kabul at a critical time before and during the Sovietinvasion of Afghanistan in 1979. His last assignment in thegovernment was Chief Secretary Balochistan.
