The Whittakers Story

<p>At long last the story of how a pioneering family settled</p><p>in Australia has come into print. From Britain in the late</p><p>1700s with travels from India and to the United States</p><p>and Mexico running through in Australia until mid-1914</p><p>and branching out up to the 1960s Clyde Whittakers</p><p>compiled much more than just a family history.</p><p>Central to the early narrative is how an Englishwoman of</p><p>great character Martha Louisa Moore rescued her</p><p>orphaned nieces and brought them from Edinburgh to</p><p>Sydney. She later started Australia's first school for</p><p>young ladies which she ran in Sydney for twenty years.</p><p>This book includes writings from Mary Howitt Walker</p><p>Reg.W.E. Wilmot Dora Campbell Harry H. Peck and</p><p>Malcolm Ellis.</p><p>There are also three pieces by the famous Australian</p><p>author Mary Grant Bruce one of which is her best work</p><p>'Port After Stormie Seas'. Here you can find the farming</p><p>properties and lots of the characters on which she based</p><p>the 'Billabong' books and so many of her other yarns.</p>
