The Wonderful Story of Blue Beard and His Last Wife

Marriage to Blue Beard: The story begins with Blue Beard wooing and marrying a new young wife. Despite his fearsome reputation she is charmed by his wealth and outwardly kind demeanor. The Forbidden Key: Before leaving on a journey Blue Beard gives his wife the keys to all the rooms in his castle but forbids her from entering one specific room. Her curiosity is piqued by this restriction. Discovery of the Secret: Unable to resist the wife eventually enters the forbidden room discovering the gruesome remains of Blue Beard’s previous wives. Horrified she realizes the danger she is in. Blue Beard’s Return: Blue Beard returns earlier than expected and demands to see the keys. He discovers that his wife has disobeyed him and prepares to kill her as he did with his previous wives.
