Robert Falcon Scott's disastrous journey to the South Pole is described in the book The Worst Journey in the World. A moving and thorough account of Scott's legendary expedition is provided by Apsley Cherry-Garrard the youngest member of Scott's team and one of only three men to complete and survive the infamous Winter Journey. Apsley Cherry-Garrard draws on his personal experiences as well as the journals of his fellow countrymen. Cherry would be part of the search team that unearthed Scott and his men's bodies after they had long since died of famine and extreme cold. Scott and the other expedition members are completely remembered through Cherry's perceptive narration and astute descriptions.
