The Wuuru cult

The study of fantasy has long been based on written works. Nevertheless a few works have studied it based on tradition since this is one of the sources of Beninese literature. For example we based our study on the wuuru cult practiced by the Baatombu of wassa-pehunco. From there we were able to study certain aspects of fantasy. This study revealed that the wuuru cult mobilizes a set of facts that plunge us into the world of the fantastic. Our starting point was the Goyeru the starting point of this cult. Our study then focused on wuu kpĩbu wuu siã suivi wuu bo and wuu bueu sikiabu. Our study was also directed towards a number of themes regularly retained in studies of the fantastic in literary works. Our analysis revealed that most of these themes find their correspondents in the wuuru cult. Finally the study focused on the functions of the wuuru cult in society.
