Therefore Be Perfect

About The Book

I have always strived for perfection. When I was a child my father always insisted that I get the best grades in all the subjects that I studied in school. When I went to college I was not happy unless I made the top grade in the classes I took. Even in law school I needed to excel in the courses that were offered. As an athlete it seemed only worthwhile to be the best player possible.

What does it mean to be perfect? As a Christian I believe that only Jesus Christ was perfect. Jesus is the Son of God and in His Sermon on the Mount Jesus says to His followers Therefore be perfect as your Father in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:48). These words of Jesus can be troublesome if not heard as Jesus intended. Does Jesus really expect Christians to be as perfect as God? What would the perfection required by Jesus of His followers be and is that perfection even possible of the most devout Christians?

If you are interested in pursuing Jesus's call to be perfect then an understanding of what perfection looks like is essential. To achieve perfection a Christian must understand the words of Jesus as He preached to His disciples and the throng of followers when He sat on the mountain side and said Therefore Be Perfect.

This is the fifth book written by Jeff Sakas. Each of his books have a Christian theme and are written with the hope that the words will bring the reader to a closer understanding of the commandment of Jesus to love to one another as Jesus loved us.
