Thermal Plasma an effective source for Synthesis of Nano Particles

About The Book

Thermal-plasmas are atmospheric pressure plasmas characterized by high enthalpy content and temperatures around 2000–50000 K and are at thermal equilibrium. The high temperature and enthalpy of the thermal plasma can be tailored effectively to synthesize nano-sized powders of advanced ceramics novel coatings and convert minerals and industrial wastes to value-added materials. This book demonstrates generation of laboratory d.c thermal plasma stabilizing methods and experimental setup required to synthesize metal oxide nano particle. The synthesized nano ZrO2 and TiO2 particles are characterized by powder XRD transmission electron microscopy (TEM) Raman spectroscopy and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The inherent effect of thermal plasma on the synthesized nano particles is discussed. The mechanism for the formation of nano particles in the plasma reactor is also presented.
