About The Book

This book investigates the novel by Jorge Amado Dona Flor and her two husbands from the perspective of the Theory of Carnavalization in literature a phenomenon embodied in the narrative. The work under analysis has as a backdrop the Brazilian dictatorial phase and the system of dominion orders and laws arising from the 1964 Military Coup. us in the corpus of this research in three characters: Vadinho Dona Flor and Teodoro capable of characterizing a world in disarray due to the false morality between the lines of the Brazilian sociocultural system. The focus of the study will revolve around Dona Flor''s desire as the guiding thread of the upside-down world. As a theoretical basis the Theory of Carnavalization in Literature by the Russian theorist Mikhail Bakthin will be brought to support the analyses. Likewise the studies of the Brazilian anthropologist Roberto Da Matta around the substrate of the carnival ritual and the Theory of Affections based on the studies of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan will be discussed for the understanding of the upside-down world in the work of Jorge Amado .
