F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote the book ‘This Side of Paradise.’ In the early 20th century Amory Blaine a young man from a wealthy family is struggling to find his place in the world. The story chronicles his life. The first of the three portions of the book which is about Amory's time as a Princeton University student is broken into three sections. His travels through Europe and his failed relationships with women are followed in the second section. Amory returns to America in the third and final chapter where he struggles to fit into the post-World War I society. The book is a reflection of the 'Lost Generation' of the 1920s a group of young people who were demoralized by the destruction of the war and the social changes that followed. Through Amory's experiences Fitzgerald examines themes of love loss and identity creating a moving and potent piece of fiction.
