Thomas H. French Captain 7th Cavalry

Without a doubt John M. Carroll was one of the finest historians to have ever written in the 7th Cavalry and Little Bighorn genre. However many of his works were only made available in limited editions and often available on from the author himself. I hope this present volume honors and extends his scholarship to another generation of investigators. The court martial of Captain Thomas H. French is of particular interest since it reflects on the character of the Army officer responsible for arguably providing the sole supporting fire during the withdrawal of Major Reno's forces from the valley fight at the onset of the Battle of the Little Bighorn.
