About The Book

This is the story of three young men spending their holidays in New Caledonia and deciding to start with some local sporting experiences . So they try for sailing horse trekking golf Bowling Pétanque tennis Cycling bowling Judo Fencing wind surfing Rodeo etc...etc . Always of course with more or less success and funny experiences . In the same time they discover some of the islands life and history .The dog itself is a very special character on his own . It is a combination of French and English humour with considerations on the French way of life and on our actual society behaviours . It can be seen as a transposition (or suite) of the famous English classic Three men in a boat by J.K Jerôme in a different time and different place but the spirit is the same. Most of the adventures and the three main characters have happened really and are still living . The author Didier Lucien POPPE is more well known as an International Track and field coach working with high performances athletes since many years at Olympics and World championships level (See U tube web site DPTHROWSCOACHING). A Frenchman now aged 75) who has been working and travelling in many countries in the world and is now partially retired since 12 years in New Zealand still coaching but now publishing books -Trois hommes (et un chien) sur un Caillou.
