Plant protection is important in a national push for self-sufficiency in food grain and other cash crops. No crop can grow without insecticides and pesticides. Farmers in Saurashtra utilize three-wheel multipurpose tool carriers with boom sprayers to apply herbicides and insecticides. Three-wheel multipurpose tool carrier attached boom sprayer is less time-consuming feasible for marginal and bigger farms and more effective than traditional and battery-operated sprayers. This project evaluated a three-wheeled tool carrier with a boom sprayer. Lab and field tests are part of performance evaluation. Engine powered pump. Six nozzles with 42 cm spacing were on the boom. 5.375 km/h was the average sprayer speed. In lab tests nozzles discharged 5.720 lit/min at 2.5-3.0 kg/cm2 pressure. At 2.5 3.0 and 3.5 kg/cm2 the spray angle was 72° 77° and 92° and the spread was 830 920 and 1140 mm. Actual field capacity was 2.39 ha/h vs 2.68 ha/h theoretically. Fuel usage was 1.05 lit/h (0.43 lit/ha) and field efficiency was 89.16%. Operating costs were 64.98 INR/ha.
