Patterns of primordial origin reside deeply withinour psyches at an unconscious level. Religion and itsscriptures have not given women's stories toldthrough their voices prominence and theology has nottaken into account the nature of women as spiritualbeings. The secular and religious histories of womengenerally herstory and personal life stories affectwho women are and how they relate to each other. TiesThat Bond is a feminist study that searches for thenature of connections that exist and function amongwomen who share genealogies--daughters mothersgrandmothers. Family systems and relationships canbe fragile but also indestructible. Groups of peoplewho are tied to each other by strong emotional bondscan invigorate or hurt embrace or ignore nurture ordemean each other. The women in this book find manyways to bring wholeness and security to theirfamilies and they tend carefully their roles intheir family systems. Inherent in this work is thepassion to have the voices of all generations ofwomen heard but especially the voice of the oldestwomen in the genealogy that of the grandmother-crone.
