About the Book

Tip-Toe the Spider: Halloween Hall is about a children's Halloween party that is held on Halloween afternoon and evening. The children's Halloween costume party in the story takes place in Halloween Hall and is attended by the MerrieBerrie neighbourhood children all dressed up in Halloween party costumes.

In the story it seems that in addition to the neighbourhood children there just might be some real little witches and monsters attending this Halloween party. Because everyone is dressed up in Halloween costumes it is impossible to tell which children are real and which party-goers might not be....

The story's main character is a piano-playing dancing spider Tip-Toe the Spider. Tip-Toe is dressed in an old-fashioned formal dancing costume including coat-tails that swing out in the back white fancy shirt-cuffs with cuff links and unmistakable 'Fred Astaire' dancing shoes. With his eight legs (actually feet) dressed up in the fancy dancing shoes Tip-Toe is almost magical in his dancing ability.

The story is told in sing-song poetry style with the words included overtop of the illustrations. The book is illustrated by acclaimed Edmonton Alberta Canada artist and illustrator Lorraine Shulba. Other storybook images include fall pumpkins bats a haunted house and numerous children dressed in Halloween costumes.

The storybook includes two photos of the real Colchester Community Hall building being moved to its present day location. This hall used to be a toy factory before it was moved to its new location across the road from the real Berry Farm.
