I want to scream until my voice cracks and my lips bleed then maybe I will feel something. I want to scream until I recognize the sound of my voice and not this unfamiliar noise that proceeds out of my mouth every time you drop a penny for my thoughts. I want to scream like a hiker who has reached the peak of her journey. I want to remind myself that I am alive. I want to disturb the world with the announcement of my existence.

I want to scream but every time I open my mouth I am met with the sound of my lungs struggling to remember how to breathe.
