To the Lighthouse

On vacation on the Isle of Skye are the calm and maternal Mrs. Ramsay the tragic yet absurd Mr. Ramsay their kids and various visitors. Woolf creates a magnificent emotional exploration of the deep tensions and allegiances of family life and the battle between men and women out of the seemingly little postponing of a visit to a local lighthouse. The Ramsays confront the biggest human obstacles and its greatest triumph—the possibility for change—alone and simultaneously as time twists its way through their lives.
