<p>Eighteen-year-old Alyssa Seaforth has always felt she was different but in the last few years she has experienced a growing awareness of others' thoughts especially those of her mother Serena. She has also had recurring dreams of an island that affects her emotionally. But the most frightening development is her ability to disable a person with her touch.
