BATTEN (1925 - 2006) was the Chairman of the Board of the management consulting and human resource development firm <em>Batten Batten Hudson and Swab</em> Inc. whose headquarters were located in Des Moines Polk County Iowa. &nbsp;A prolific writer Batten also published a number of books on management including <em>Developing a Tough-Minded Climate...for Results</em> (1965); <em>Beyond Management by Objectives</em> (1966); <em>Dare to Live Passionately</em> (1966); <em>Guide to Successful Living</em> (1969); <em>The Confidence Chasm</em> (co-authored with his daughter Gail Batten 1972); and <em>Expectations and Possibilities</em> (1981).
