Towards a Green University

Undoubtedly the world today faces difficult environmental financial and social challenges. In fact the Green Thinking aims to address the problems of environmental degradation and the lack of human equality and quality of life by supporting sustainable development. In order to change people’s lifestyle to be more sustainable one must change people’s culture then built environment by focusing on education. Further the higher education has a key role to play in the move toward a more sustainable world. In the overall analysis the true green university will make a significant effect. Since the green campus is not only a green built environment which aims at energy efficiency water efficiency waste management and conserving resources. But it is how to implement green built environment while engaging the campus stakeholders (students academic staff assistants and administrators) through educating for sustainability. The main purpose of the research is to identify the main criteria to assess the green university specifically for Egypt’s higher institution and to be a framework for achieving more green universities.
