The main aim of the research is to develop a remuneration framework for lower level employees in the hotel industry of Namibia. The researcher chose this specific area because of the general perception in Namibia that the workers in the hotel industry are “shockingly” underpaid overworked and endure poor working conditions. In addition the tourism and hospitality sector does not have a minimum wage to act as a guide to employers when pegging the starting wages and salaries for their employees. This implies that each hotel comes up with its own payment system which may be very different from what the other hotels of similar size and star grading are offering.
