Toxicological Effects of Neem on the Squash Bug

This book provides a review of some detailed toxicological studies of azadirachtin aplant-derived toxin on the squash bug an insect ofgreat horticultural importance. For centuries Neemhas been used to manage various pests and its potencyis now believed to be largely a result ofazadirachtin and other similar synergistic compounds. Various formulations containing azadirachtin wereused on different life stages of the squash bug. Variables in the study include; feeding matingbehavior ovoposition molting early-instardevelopment and mortality in squash bugs. Thecompiled studies include both laboratory and fieldstudies that make a comprehensive overview of some ofthe effects of the azadirachtin-containing compoundson the insect and more generally on the yield andbiomass of the host-plants.
