About The Book

Toxoplasma gondii is an important parasite causing economic losses in agriculture congenital abnormalities in man and fatal disease in immunosuppressed individuals. Recently there has been a resurgence of interest in the parasite. This is partially due to the increased clinical importance of the disease kills 25 % of AIDS patients. However hit is also because the parasite provides a tractable model system for molecular cellular and immunological investigation of intracellular parasites. The book is divided into four three basic science sections on molecular biology cell biology and immunology of toxoplasmosis with a final section reviewing applied issues such as vaccination chemotherapy and diagnosis.
