About The Book

This study describes the increased trade in Africa essentially in the Kongo Kakongo Ngoyo and Loango territories in the 18th and 19th centuries. Along with the slave trade the most common commercial practice at the time and in relation to foreign demand it analyzes the trade of other products in the kingdoms of Kongo Kakongo Ngoyo and Loango and the causes of the weakening of the central power of the indigenous authorities for Europeans. For local history the work problematizes and highlights the commercial impetus of Europeans particularly the Portuguese in weakening the kingdoms of Kakongo Ngoyo and Loango (Cabinda).
