Traditional therapy applied to the visually impaired child

About The Book

This book is in the field of Developmental Psychology and deals with the issue of traditional therapeutic practices and psychomotor skills in children with visual impairment from birth: the case of children aged 3 to 7 years. The present manuscript deals with a new theme based on the intercultural approach in the world particularly in Africa and highlights through a conceptual and theoretical approach the importance of traditional care on the psychomotor development of typical children such as children deprived of sight at an early age. I start from the observation that no known study in Gabon has been conducted on this issue. Also the review of the literature highlights studies that deal with the issue of psychomotor skills in children with visual impairment from birth; in particular work related to the interaction between mothers and blind children those related to the acquisition of the major stages of motor development in relation to motor skills; research on motor skills and locomotion in infants and studies dealing with the issue of spatial orientation in children with visual impairment.
