Transgenders Welfare and Society

This book “Transgender Welfare and Society” presents a vivid account of the history of transgender in terms of their place in Hindu Mythology and Tamil Literature as also views and perspectives on their physiology and psychology which is purely ambivalent. On its flip side this book also handles the marginalization of transgender and also its resultant im­pact factor which in turn led to the enactment of progressive legislation with special reference to Tamil Nadu. This book has also documented the contributions of Tamil Nadu TGWB. Tamil Nadu TGWB has been lauded for its involvement of transgender representatives in the board as equal partners in decision-making and for providing targeted welfare to several needy TG people. The purpose of formation of the Board is primarily to provide action points for other Indian states to introduce similar state level initiatives for addressing the social protection needs of transgender people in their states.
