Transverse Compressive and Tensile Strength with Typha Dominguensis (Tule) Fiber

About The Book

Fibers have been used as a construction material for many centuries. In the last 3 decades there has been a growing interest in the use of fibers in ready-mix concrete precast concrete and shotcrete. Natural vegetable fibers require less energy in their extraction process even if it is mechanical. The general objective of this research is to design a concrete mixture reinforced with Typha Dominguensis (Tule) fibers which has adequate mechanical characteristics and is useful in construction in such a way that an alternative can be offered which is feasible in the use for housing and infrastructure in areas of economic instability and extreme poverty with the use of this composite mixture and by the self-construction procedure. The recommendation about the implementation of Tule fibers in mortars is that; this mortar mixture can be used in the construction process of house-housing as a material that could be used as a template in foundations and even as plaster in walls substituting the well-known poor concrete.
