Vital statistics are a critical component of the Health delivery system of countries and institutions. They form part of the health information system which allows countries to monitor progress towards achieving health related goals over time. Statistics on deliveries births maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality are key indicators when monitoring maternal newborn and child care services even in low resources countries where the health information system is weak. The study was to describe the trends in deliveries and the maternal-fetal outcomes over 50 years (1962-2011) at Nsambya hospital. A retrospective cross- sectional study design that involved collecting data on maternal and perinatal outcome over 50 years at Nsambya hospital (1962-2011). Source material was extracted from the Nsambya hospital birth delivery registers the maternal and perinatal death review forms and from key informant interviews. All the data was analyzed using SPSS software package version 10.0 for different study variables.
