Turtle Island Stories Legend and Myths

<p>Indigenous Teachings were passed down through generations usually told by Elders (Gitchi-Anishinaabe) around the fire during the long Winter (Biboon) seasons. Each generation retold the stories with their general interpretation; all lead back to the seven grandfather teachings of respect honesty truth humility courage wisdom and love.</p><p>Nanabush the trickster is a likeable character who dispenses advice all while getting into situations all his own making. Along the way Nanabush helps his grandmother (Nokomis) and the Animals (Awesiinh) of Turtle (mishekae) Island live better lives.</p><p><br></p>
