This is a short collection of the surviving poetry of the Irish monk Sedulius Scottus from the 9th century. Most of the compositions relate and are directed to the Carolingian empire and its royal court. The emperors Charles and Lothair as well as Queen Bertha are mentioned by name and are likely responsible for the patronage of Sedulius during his lifetime.
