Seminar paper from the year 2012 in the subject Politics - Region: USA grade: 17 Dresden Technical University (Institut für Politikwissenschaft) course: Internationale Politik: Theorien und Forschungsansätze language: English abstract: This paper applies Robert Putnam's two-level-game approach to the WTO's Doha Round and the preceding Seattle Conference. After an introduction to Putnam's theory and a brief overview of other theories of political economy explaining trade politics the positions of key players in the negotiations are assessed. Special attention is then given to the role of issue linkages in the context of the WTO's single undertaking approach and recent blockades in the negotiations.
